Radnor, PA, February 24, 2015 – OnLink, the most comprehensive golf course management system ever developed, announced today at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Golf Show that it will launch its revolutionary software platform in April 2015. The new cloud-based decision platform provides actionable analytics and recommendations to golf course Superintendents. The platform is designed with simplicity and mobility in mind first, all critical information is consolidated to help superintendents reduce costs while improving turf health and playing conditions.
“The golf world is undergoing a realignment with costs increasing while course revenues are declining in many regions. Given this environment golf course Superintendents must learn to do more with less,” said OnLink Chief Executive Officer Walt Norley. “OnLink allows the Superintendent the ability to customize the information they want to manage in a simplified manner providing efficiencies in time management and insights to critical parts of the operation.”
OnLink is unique because it is a “plug-and-play” solution that works with all existing software and hardware providers immediately. Once integrated with the data providers, it can be up and running instantly like an App download and can be customized to manage an entire golf course, by golf hole or multiple golf courses. OnLink consolidates all the key operational metrics including course health indicators, water and energy outputs, playing conditions indicators like green speed and firmness, labor tracking for man-hours and crew allocations, nutrient budgeting and chemical compliance -all on one platform with actionable analytics.
“I am proud to have be playing a part in the development of OnLink and utilizing all of its capabilities at Merion Golf Club,” said OnLink Co-Founder and Merion Golf Club Director of Grounds Matt Shaffer. “Understandable, easy to use and actionable data is what all superintendents want and OnLink delivers just what we want and need.”
Advisory Board Announced
OnLink also announced its advisory board including Desert Mountain Director of Grounds Shawn Emerson who has been piloting OnLink at Desert Mountain in Scottsdale since last November, Muirfield Village Golf Club Director of Ground Paul B. Latshaw, former Director of Grounds at Eagle Point Sam Green and Director of the Penn State Turf Management Program Dr. John Kaminski.
“I am pleased to participate in the development of this ground-breaking golf course management system,” said Advisory Board Chairman Shawn Emerson. “As someone who has to manage multiple golf courses, this new platform lets me sleep more easily knowing that I have all the information needed at my fingertips.”
OnLink has been test piloting at several golf courses across the U.S. including Merion Golf Club, Eagle Point Golf Club (NC), The Club at Mediterra (FL), Muirfield Village Golf Club (OH), all six courses at Desert Mountain (AZ) and will be adding several more this month prior to commercially launching in April 2015.
OnLink was founded by Walt Norley and Matt Shaffer in 2014 to create an intuitive system for golf course superintendents, leveraging deep agronomic experiences, the advancements in fixed asset technology, sustainability of water and energy resources and extensive research into emerging agronomic trends. OnLink is pioneering the concept of building an internet of things platform for golf. The platform combines leading golf hardware and software technologies into a single golf course superintendent-friendly management and decision platform. Previously, many of these great hardware and information technologies surprisingly did not work together. The OnLink solution is built on the foundation of strategic partner OnFarm, a Fresno CA based software company successfully implementing a decision software platform for the agricultural industry. In 2012, OnFarm was awarded IBM’s Venture Company of the Year and has approximately 1000 growers as customers on 1.3 million acres.
